New Visions of the Classic.

“Brothers Grimm books have inspired and continue to inspire authors all over the world. Besides the fantastic source of inspiration Brothers Grimm books are in themselves, there is a illustration prizes in them names”.  
 
Call 
We invite all those artists and publishers interested to submit their published or unpublished work related or base on any tales from the Grimms Brothers to participate in the Bruder Grimm Action # 1. 
This is a competition that arises to support creativity and innovation in contemporary illustration. 
The contest is aimed to artists, designers and illustrators of any nationality working and practicing within the art field. Participants will have the opportunity to display their work in an exhibition that will take place in the state of Hessen, Germany this coming summer. The project is sponsored by ZebraBooks, a company dedicated to identify and promote different international artists and artistic groups, who venture into the arts with new trends and thrive on innovation. For this event by ZebraBooks will be working in collaboration with different institutions that encourage, sponsor and ultimatly promote artistical tradition and imagination. The winning entries will be selected by an international representative jury composed by distinguished members of various sectors, intellectual, artistic, cultural and political such as publishers, professional artists, art critics, designers and members of various institutions concerned with the legacy of the Grimm Brothers.

Submission and conditions for the entries. 

1.-Entries submission.

The submission work must be accompanied by the application form (attached), which must be completed in full by the participant.
- Format:
All Illustration to be submitted in paper only. The following formats are accepted: 
A3 format (420 x 297 mm), A4 (297 x 210 mm) or A5 (148 x 210 mm).
-Amount:
The number of "originals" drawings is unlimited and must be a sequence or series that can be done in up to 8 sheets at any of the specified formats .
-Subject
The artworks can submit their published or unpublished work related or base on any tales from the Grimms Brothers ("Rumpelstiltskin", "Snow White", "Sleeping Beauty", "Rapunzel", "Cinderella", "Hansel and Gretel", "The Frog Prince",...).

2.- Entries fees.

The cost of each submission is 20 euros, this includes the admission cost and the shipment fees (Submitted works will be return to applicants upon request). Application fee to be pay via Paypal to the following account:

Upon receipt of both requirements applicants shall be deemed official participation. Only accepted entries will be notified of participation in the exhibition. Winning entries will be notified via email and will also be posted to www.zebrabooks.com

Entries will be submitted in two different phases:
Phase 1- Online- Digital Files:
- Submissions will be sent via e-mail and be received no later than Mai the 31th. 2010 . The required format is PDF. All applications most to be sent to: info@byzebrabooks.com

4.-Preparation of Packages. (Phase 2 )

Phase 2 - Unmounted Printed Illustrations:
- Shipments to be sent via registered post. All submissions to be received before May the 30th of 2010, according to the postmark date, to the following address:

Send entries, unmounted, in flat packages only (no mailing tubes). For shipments from abroad, contestants should mark each package as "Materials for Contest Entry. No Commercial Value." .
All unmounted Printed Illustrations to be clearly identified on the reverse with the author's signature and the name legibly written.
Important: Please do not send copies of the work, frames, pictures, objects, or rigid substrates such as cardboard.
International entries should be sent by international courier. All entries must be received by the deadline date.
All entrants grant by ZebraBooks the right to reproduce work selected in the Illustration Competition on the by Zebrabooks Web site and in materials used to promote the "Bruder Grimm Action" and/or future related promotions. By ZebraBooks is not responsible for damage or loss of any entry.
